New nursery under way at Wilton Park
Construction of the new facilities for First Place nursery in Beaconsfield has begun, with a ground-breaking event held on 17th August to mark the milestone
The new nursery building is just one of the family-friendly facilities that leading developer Inland Homes is creating along with 350 homes that will make Wilton Park a thriving new community.
Representatives from Inland Homes and First Place Nurseries along with children from the nursery took part in the ceremony, burying a time capsule and planting a tree as part of the event. Contractor Blaze Commercial Limited provided the machinery used to break the ground.
The state-of-the-art new nursery building is a timber-clad pavilion with capacity for 74 children aged from six months to up to five years. Designed to the bespoke requirements of the First Place Nurseries Group, it will provide a safe and stimulating environment for children. It is set next to the new parkland being created at the heart of Wilton Park, easily accessible to residents and the wider community. There will be twenty-five parking spaces, as well as cycle parking provision.
The nursery forms part of the Wilton Park community hub, which also includes a new café and community centre, as well as two hectares of beautiful parkland for everyone to enjoy. These were originally planned to be built during later phases of development but were brought forward and final plans were agreed earlier this year, being recognised as a key part of helping foster the new community at Wilton Park.
Nish Malde, Group Finance Director at Inland Homes Plc, said:
“It is fantastic to celebrate this significant milestone of breaking ground on the construction of the nursery. Wilton Park is about so much more than new homes - the excellent range of community facilities and new infrastructure will make sure it becomes a place that is convenient and attractive to live. The new nursery in particular will draw families with young children to the range of high-quality family homes that are available now and coming in future phases.”
Jan Harris, Managing Director at First Place Nurseries, commented:
“First Place Nurseries has an established nursery setting already in this location, but the redevelopment of Wilton Park allows us to move to outstanding, purpose-built premises where we will be able to offer children an even better start. The leafy surroundings, large outdoor space and well-equipped building provide an environment where children will thrive. We would like to hear from any parents interested in registering their child for a place at the new nursery.”
Part of the appeal of Wilton Park is the strong emphasis on green space, with the new two-hectare parkland that the nursery overlooks also now under way. It will include two children’s play areas, a trim trail, new footpaths and cycleways, and enhanced biodiversity with new tree planting as well as the creation of meadows and wetland areas.
Inland Homes received the go-ahead for a new community in 2019. Bewley Homes began construction of the first 147 homes in spring 2021 and the new relief road serving the development opened in April this year.
The outdated, existing nursery premises also located within Wilton Park will be demolished when the new purpose-built facility is complete. The new nursery is anticipated to open to children from summer 2023. First Place Nurseries Group is now registering interest from parents interested in places for their children.
