Inland's Staycation Locations

Discover where you could spend your staycation this Summer!

2020 is the year of the staycation. With the weather getting warmer and days getting longer, many people would ordinarily be looking forward to a summer holiday somewhere hot. This year may be looking a little different, but you don’t have to be disheartened – there are lots of places perfect for a relaxing break right here on home soil! We have a number of developments situated in splendid staycation spots, from relaxing riversides to seaside resorts. Check out our favourites below:

Bournemouth, Dorset

With seven miles of sandy beach, a traditional pier and a plethora of leisure facilities, Bournemouth is the ultimate staycation location. A day at the beach will definitely not be boring; take the cliff lift down to the beach from the clifftop, or feed your adrenaline by taking the zip wire from the iconic pier down to the shore. Once you’re on dry land, there’s still plenty to do; you can experience one of the best crazy golf courses in the South at Smugglers Cove along the seafront, explore the sea animals at Bournemouth Oceanarium or take a relaxing stroll in one of Bournemouth’s 2,000 acres of parkland and gardens. When evening comes, night owls can visit Bournemouth Triangle and taste a range of international cuisine in several fine dining restaurants or enjoy a cocktail in one of the many stylish bars across the city. Our upcoming development The Wessex is launching in September, and is located just five minutes from the beach, ideal for enjoying the relaxation of a staycation all year round!

Maidenhead, Berkshire

Although not a traditional holiday destination, the Berkshire town of Maidenhead is set against the beautiful backdrop of the River Thames, and has plenty to do to keep you busy on a weekend break. With the iconic river flowing through the town, you can enjoy life on the water by hiring a pleasure boat and cruising between Maidenhead and Windsor for the day. The nearby Bray Lake is open for visitors to take part in plenty of thrilling water sports, including sailing, canoeing, windsurfing and paddle boarding. At the end of a busy day on the water, you can feed your appetite with a meal at Maidenhead’s Michelin-star restaurant, Roux at Skindles, located just across the river from our development Venue, or enjoy dinner and drinks in the neighbouring Bray village, home to two Michelin-star restaurants; The Fat Duck and The Waterside Inn.

Southampton, Hampshire

If you’re looking for a bit of retail therapy on holiday, as well as a bit of R&R, Southampton is the place to be. Known as one of the UK’s top retail destinations and home to our developments Chapel Riverside and Meridian Waterside, Southampton is a shopaholic’s dream; West Quay Shopping Centre has over 100 shops boasting high street, designer and luxury lifestyle brands, as well as a cinema, Hollywood Bowl and escape room. Just down the road, the prestigious Ocean Village has a number of bars and restaurants overlooking the marina, perfect for watching the sunset with a glass of fizz. Providing fun no matter your age, the Itchen Valley Country Park has a diverse range of things to do including craft workshops, BBQs for hire, cycle paths, woodland trails, orienteering and a Go Ape! adventure course, excellent for adrenaline junkies.
